Myrtle Beach police officer charged with DUI
A captain at the Myrtle Beach Police Department was charged with drunk driving, careless and reckless driving, and open container in N.C. last Saturday, and refused to take field sobriety tests.
A veteran captain with the Myrtle Beach Police Department is on personal leave following his arrest on a DWI charge in North Carolina, authorities said Monday.[The officer], 53, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless and reckless driving, and an open container violation when he was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 73 near Greensboro, according to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office.
[The officer], the Investigative Division commander for Myrtle Beach police, was off duty at the time of his arrest and is currently on personal leave from the police department, said Capt. David Knipes, police spokesman.

He may be innocent; I hope he is. I certainly presume so. It is interesting that he didn't take any tests. He is in a position to know the tests are designed to make everyone fail. This should be the verification of our adage that noone should ever take any test offered by law enforcement.

Karli - I've only spoken with Bill one time, but he seemed like a genuinely nice person to me.
Not sure how his case turned out, but this type of charge could happen to anyone and, in my opinion, says nothing about his character.
